The Gap Band's Robert Wilson Dies

Robert Wilson of The Gap Band has died of a heart attack. Known as the "Godfather of Bass Guitar," Wilson was one-third of the celebrated R&B/funk band that gave the world the hits "Outstanding," "Yearning for Your Love," "Burn Rubber on Me (Why You Wanna Hurt Me)," "I Found My Baby," and "Early in the Morning." The band is made up of brothers Robert, Charlie and Ronnie Wilson, who hail from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Sadly, Wilson gave what is most likely his last public interview to The Tulsa World last week to promote a show he was scheduled to do on Saturday, Aug. 28. The show will continue as scheduled, but it will be held as a memorial to Wilson. He was 53.
