Want to help design the new African American History Museum?

The Smithsonian Institution and the National Capital Planning Commissionare are hosting a second public meeting on Thursday evening on the construction of the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
At the meeting, people can give their input and ask questions about the five-acre site on the National Mall.

Officials will kick things off with a presentation on the site and the results of the environmental impact study. The meeting will be held from 5:30-7 p.m. at NCPC's offices, 401 9th Street NW, Suite 500N.

If you can't make it, you can submit comments and questions to the museum's website at: http://www.nmaahceis.com/ or by email at NMAAHC.EIS.Comments@aecom.com.

Construction of the African American History and Culture museum is scheduled to begin on the Mall in 2012 and the museum is expected to open in 2015.

In the meantime you can get previews of exhibits the museum will have at the National Museum of American History in the second-floor gallery. The Kinsey Collection: Where Art and History Intersect is currently on display there.Read more at the Washington Examiner: http://washingtonexaminer.com/blogs/capital-land/2011/01/want-help-design-new-african-american-history-museum#ixzz1ABZsiNcI
